Bubbly, Baubles, Runways and Rooftops

I'm back to my normally scheduled blogging this week and I apologize for the mini hiatus last week. Which apparently is a thing around KCFW because the same thing happened when I went this spring.... I didn't intend to not have posts go up but by the time I got home (which was well after midnight) I was exhausted and the last thing I wanted to do was write/schedule a post. But your wait is rewarded because I have a toooooooooon of posts coming atcha!

First up is the first couple of events of Kansas City Fashion Week! This is my second season attending and after last season (which you can read all about here, here and here) I was so excited to see the collections and get to experience the event. It keeps getting better than the last and I can only imagine what the spring will hold. This year something new they did was host some new events, pre-events to the signature runway shows later on in the week. One was at the newly opened Kendra Scott store on the Plaza and a cocktail party Downtown.

The Kendra Scott event was a mix and mingle where other bloggers and media covering Fashion Week could come and enjoy bubbly and baubles. I met up with my KC blogger babes and chatted with them and met a new blogger friend, Ritz of Journo Speak.

How adorable is this pink statement necklace?! It's the next thing on my Kendra Scott wishlist.

I actually won this blue iridescent necklace from the giveaway. The picture doesn't even do it justice. It's beyond stunning in person.

Always such a fun time inside the Kendra Scott store! It was nice to see friends, meet new ones, get hyped for the upcoming week and enjoy gazing at all the pretty jewels and baubles. I actually picked up a new KS bracelet because you guys know how much I wear my pink Andy one. Plus, I had a birthday discount so I had to get it. Lol. I got the Elton gold bracelet and I'm obsessed. I wear it with everything. It's simple but adds the finishing touch to an outfit or a stack. Definitely a great purchase for sure!

Next up is the Runway on the Rooftop event at the beautiful OneLight Apartment building Downtown in the heart of the P&L District. This was my second time being up on the roof at the pool and every time it takes my breath away. It's seriously one of the most gorgeous spaces ever. The tall skyscrapers give it a New York feel but you can still watch the sunset in the distant. It's hard to explain, so if you ever have the chance I definitely recommend heading there.

This event was muuuuch bigger than the Kendra Scott one with hundreds of people attending. I had to work part of it checking VIP people in like bloggers, media personnel, KC stars, etc.  Speaking of KC stars I have such a story to tell. So I'm checking people in and this incredibly good looking guy, dressed to the nine's walks up. He hands me his ticket and I ask for his name. He says it and I check him off the list. He says thanks and smiles back walking into the party. After he walked in I can't help but try to remember where I heard his name from. I check people in and overhear someone say "Wasn't that Aaron Murray of the Chiefs?" I Google search his name and check for a photo and I'll be it was him! I quickly called over another assistant and handed her drink tickets telling her to find him and apologize for not giving him VIP tickets. After the show I found him and apologized for the mix-up and we started chatting. He was super nice about it and seemed like a great guy. So there's my celebrity sighting story!

I forgot to take real outfit photos and this is the only one I have. And yes, it is from my Snapchat (@samanthagoble).... #NoShame. It was still super toasty outside so I opted for my favorite black tank, this super fun sequined tribal mini skirt and my trusty nude heels. It was the perfect mix of fun and flirty but still weather and 'work' appropriate.

This event was a mini runway show that showcased a few designers spring and summer 2016 collections. I didn't catch all of it but what I did see was knocking it out of the park. And yes that is a runway in the pool. I saw more blogger friends as we expressed our excitement for the later shows. KC definitely has the best blogging community and I'm so blessed to be a part of it!

So that's it! The first two major events of KCFW! More will come don't you worry. Both were very different but very fun and a good time. I hope they host both of these again next year!

Keep checking back for more KCFW coverage that will be happening here over the next few weeks! I'm super excited to keep sharing it with you all and take you on the virtual runway shows! :)

Bar Cart Reveal

I have wanted a bar cart ever since I saw them beautifully styled and decorated on Pinterest. They're chic, sophisticated and not to mention perfect for Instagram, and parties of course ;) But one was pointless because I wasn't 21 and couldn't drink.... but now that I'm of legal drinking age, you bet that I've got my own!

I am in love with the way it turned out! I think it's perfect! It's functional as well as stylish. For the most part I have pretty much the essentials but I will always keep my eyes peeled for cute little knick knacks, decor or bar cart items.

Some of my favorite places to shop for such are HomeGoods, Target, Kirklands, At Home and Francesca's! They have great bar cart essentials and decor items to get your bar cart ready.

Enough of me and let's get to the reveal!

Bar sign: Kohl's
Bar cart: Target
Acrylic tray: Target
Picture frame: Wal-Mart
Print: My own
Gold rimmed glasses: At Home
Martini glass: At Home
Glittered champagne glass: Target
Shaker: Amazon
Straws: Target
Napkins: Target
Coffee Mug: Forever21
Geometric object: HomeGoods
Tassels: DIYed
Bag: Forever21
Heels: Target (same style, different colors)
Gold tray: HomeGoods

I stuck with a color palette: gold, white, pink and black with acrylic details. I love that it's classic and chic but still fun! There are a few things I still need: a bigger shaker bottle, coasters, tea towel, etc., but for the most part I have it all! Now all I need is more bottles, accessories and people over so I can make them a drink!

What are your bar cart essentials? Have a go to drink you serve? Let me know in the comments below! :)

Weekend Reading No. 35

Hello friends! Sorry for the radio silence this week on here. I had all intentions of having regular posts go up but KC Fashion Week just wiped me out. I would get home after midnight and had no energy to finish up and schedule my posts so I apologize for the lack of reading! But I have A LOT of fun posts coming up so they'll makeup for it!

Anyways, like I said KCFW just finished up yesterday (Saturday) and it was another amazing season. The collections were stunning and I still can't get over it. If you follow me on Instagram (@samantha_goble) and Snapchat (@samanthagoble) then you've seen sneak peaks of all the shows. And if you don't A) you should because I post lots of fun snaps and BTS stuff and B) don't worry a full recap will be coming. So yeah that's my week: super fun but super long. I'm too young to feel this tired. Haha!

Enough of me, here's what's on my Weekend Reading list!

Another one of my childhood shows! I loved watching Keenan and Kel on All That! This is such an iconic pop culture reference for us 90s kids. If you don't know what it is we can't be friends. (Just kidding...... well kinda....)

25 best museums in the world. My travel goals are to visit every one. Anyone up for a spontaneous trip to Europe?

We just wrapped KC Fashion Week which was amazing as per usual (posts coming soon!) but here are the top 10 trends from NYFW

How well do you know punctuation? I got a 9/11!

Joseph Gordon-Levitt is such a babe. I mean his voice.... gah!

I saw the Scorch Trials this week and IT WAS SO GOOD! If you haven't seen the Maze Runner/Scorch Trials you need to. It was dramatic, funny, action packed, the cast was amazing, the directing, music, cinematography, everything was on point.

I don't watch Empire but after seeing this I might just start!

Need this wrap in my life. How gorge is the color?!

LOVE LOVE LOVE these booties! But I do not love the price tag. *insert profusely crying emoji here*

Now that I can finally drink I've been searching and saving for drink recipes and I am definitely going to try this one

Dying over Jean's vintage inspired wedding at the Boston Public Library. Can we all agree that it's a Pinterest worthy wedding?

I adore this polished yet casual look on Blair! And she's wearing good ol' Royal's Blue!!

Now watch me sip, sip, watch me latte

As a blogger, there's this fascade that everything is always perfect all the time because of what we post on social media. But in all reality we're just normal people who go through the same things others do. Loved this open and honest post from Mackenzie

Drooling over Noelani's trip to Paris. Seriously who wants to go to Europe with me?

Must A) go to New York and B) make a stop at the famous Ralph's Coffee Shop. I mean how swoonworthy is it?!

4 words: Salted Caramel Apple Bars

I don't know who this guy is but he's hilarious!

21st Birthday Recap

I can't believe it's been over a week since my birthday! It's like you look forward to it for sooooo long and then poof, it's gone. It's madness I tell you! Anyways, I thought I'd recap what I did for my 21st birthday. And I'm just forwarning you it's incredibly boring. #GrandmaStatus.

So on the morning of my birthday I ate a cupcake because calories don't count on your birthday and why not eat a cupcake for breakfast? I also bought myself some gorgeous flowers from Trader Joe's so I sat in bed with my cupcake, flowers and coffee while scrolling through Instagram. It was pretty nice.

After I finished eating my parents and Alex got me a card and Jack (my cat) got me balloons and a card too. And no my cat didn't actually get me balloons and a card my dad did and signed it from him. Haha! It was cute and I loved it. Fun fact about me is that I collect cards. I've collected birthday cards, holiday cards, invitations, etc., ever since I was like 5 years old. I have a shoebox filled with cards. I love to go through them every now and again and relive my old birthdays. Cause I'm sentimental like that. Lol.

We were meeting my grandparents for lunch at the Legend's so we all started getting ready. We all met up and had a delicious lunch at a local steakhouse. It was super yummy and I don't think I'd ever eaten that much ever.

Since I was turning 21 I could finally go into a casino, and it just so happened that there was one close by, so me and my mom went over to try our hand at winning some money, while my dad and brother visited with the grandparents.

We got our money cards and started in on the slots. We stuck to playing quarter and penny ones. It's fun/frustrating: fun when you win but frustrating when you don't. We stayed there for about an hour or so, walking around checking out the different machines and card tables. I've always loved casinos, the whole James Bond, 1940s/50s, dressed to the nines, gambling in Monte Carlo ideal. I really want to find one like that go to it for a night. How fun would that be?!

We didn't win anything, but we also didn't lose anything either, so that was a good thing! I wanted to stop by TJ Maxx (there was one right by) so we swung through really quick. While there I found the most gorgeous bag and knew it was my birthday splurge. #TreatYoSelf

But like really how gorgeous is she?! I'm obsessed. It's a dupe for the Prada double zip one. It's just such a classic bag and I'm kinda in love.

After my shopping we met back up with the rest of the fam and visited for awhile, then headed back home.

I did have a celebratory drink but like at 7pm that night...at home in my bed....Haha!  I had a Golden Sunset. It's Malibu coconut rum, Tropicana tropical juice and cream of coconut. It's sooo good! It's the perfect beach vacay drink.

My mom and I went to dinner a few nights ago and I ordered my first drink then. We went to Barley Brewhaus, which is like a bar and grille. I had the Forever Summer which had mandarin vodka, cranberry juice and pineapple juice.

It was really good and I love sitting at the bar because you can strike up a convo with the bartender and really learn more about drinks and such.

Overall it was a pretty relaxed birthday, nothing too wild and crazy. It was a great one and made even better thanks to all of your sweet comments and happy birthday wishes, so thank you!

I'm excited for what this next year holds and can't wait to keep on celebrating!

Weekend Reading No. 34

How is it the weekend is already over?! I mean it seems like 5 minutes ago I was celebrating my birthday and here we are almost at the end of September! Where has the month gone?! Anyways, it's been a good week! A busy one but a pretty good one. Monday and Tuesday I babysat pretty much all day, Wednesday I had a fun event at Park Place that I worked with Kat on, Thursday I babysat again, Friday I met up with a friend for lunch and then Saturday I did errands and shot a whole bunch of blog looks! So it was a pretty productive week to say the least. This next week (9/21-9/26) is Kansas City Fashion Week and I have A TON of fun events planned, so definitely make sure you're following me on Instagram (@samantha_goble) and SnapChat (@samanthagoble) for photos and behind the scenes clips!

Okay enough of me and let's get into the links for the week!

This might be the greatest mashup video of all time

Boy oh boy does Ariana Grande have a set of pipes on her! These impressions were spot on!

Bindi Irwin, can she dance! And you can just tell that she's having the best time ever and gosh darnit her dad would be beyond proud

GUYS, GUYS, GUYS! IT'S FINALLY REVEALED WHAT ZOEY SAID ABOUT CHASE! My childhood is complete. Now all I need is a spinoff show showing Chase finding Zoey.

There will always be an appropriate Mindy Kaling GIF for pretty much everything

The first teaser trailer for Allegiant just came out and it's going to be the best one yet!

I need a camel long line vest immediately...

And in other teaser trailer news the teaser trailer for The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 2 came out and I have the chills....

Loved this real talk about dating through apps

Oh Jessica....

The Kate Spade NYFW collection/show might be my favorite of the entire week....

Don't Go Chasin Waterfalls

While editing these photos I realized that I don't make eye contact to the camera... I think it's safe to say that I've mastered the "looking away" pose. Haha! So excuse the lack of facial expressions/pose diversity.

Today I'm sharing another fall outfit featuring this gorgeous waterfall cardigan that I picked up during the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale. It was my first time shopping the big NSale and I couldn't have been more pleased! I first saw this cardigan on pretty much every blogger who posted about the Sale and after seeing it on Emily of the Sweetest Thing I decided I needed it too! Unfortunately it was sold out in the camel color (womp womp) but I did manage to pick it up in black!

It's the perfect weight, not too heavy or too light and is super warm and cozy. It will definitely be a staple item this fall and winter for sure! I will say size down. It is a bit oversized so go down one size. I'm normally a small and the x-small fits perfectly.

Sunglasses: Versona Boutique (similar here)// Necklace: BaubleBar// Tanktop: Target (similar here)// Cardigan: Nordstrom// Belt: Target (similar here)// Jeans: American Eagle (similar here)// Heels: Target (similar here and here)//

|Thanks to Alex for the photos|

This cardigan will be perfect with a tunic top, leggings and boots or over a cute dress. There are endless styling options!

I am so excited to start posting more fall looks and have a humongous list going! I may or may not be turning into a fashion/style blogger..... #SorryNotSorry

Did you pick up anything from the NSale? Thoughts on me becoming a fashion blogger? Leave me a comment sharing!

Weekend Reading No. 33

Happy Sunday everyone! I hope you all had a good week! Mine was busy with meetings, events and working on projects. Next week is gonna be really crazy and the week after that is KCFW, so I'm preparing myself for insaneness. And today is a super special day because it's my . . .  birthday! Yup today is finally the big day! I'm officially 21! *cue the balloons and party music* I'm celebrating my birthday with lunch with my family and grandparents and obviously a cocktail, because 21. I'd love to hear what your favorite drinks are so I can start my search for my signature cocktail. So leave me some in the comments below!

Oh and today's also the day where I announce the winner of my Birthday Giveaway with Stella & Dot! And the winner is, drum-roll please, . . . . . ...

Makaela Willis

Congrats! Be looking from an email from me on how to claim your free Stella & Dot Deja Vu studs!

Thank you to everyone who entered. You guys are the best!

Now onto this week's Weekend Reading!

Demi slayed this cover of Hozier's Take Me to Church

Bless Carrie for trying! But her legs though *insert heart eyes*

I'm dying over Kate Spade's NYFW collection. Give me, give me, give me!

I can't wait for the new season of AHS! It's gonna be soooo good!

Vogue is taking over the Youtube space and Karlie is helping them pack

I dare you to try and go without laughing during this video. I dare you.

Remember Life Size? The movie with Tyra Banks and Linday Lohan? Well there's gonna be a sequel! My inner Disney channel movie kid is freaking out!

This is everything. And I mean everything

If you're not following this Instagram you're missing out. It's an ode to all the bloggers out there and I find it hilariously entertaining!

Three words: chocolate chip pizza. Yes, freaking please.

I love the #Fallake bromance! They're such great friends and this video is proof.

Nightly routines of some of the most successful women. Gonna have to try and incorporate a few of these into my night time routines.

I saw a magazine cover at the grocery store that read "The Missing Kennedy Sister" and I was intrigued. When I got home I did a little searching and this story is unbelievably heartbreaking.

I've always wondered about the detox teas and if they really worked. And after reading Bess's review I wanna try one out!

I applaud Lauryn's realness with this blog post about her boob job. It's refreshing to read about something other than how to style a denim shirt (which I love and am guilty of posting).

I'm in need of some budgeting help (too much adorable fall fashion) and am pledging to take this 30 day finance challenge! Will you take it with me?

21 Things I've Learned

I can't believe that tomorrow I'm gonna be 21.... it doesn't even feel like I should be turning that old. I feel like I should be turning like 12! I don't feel old enough to be a "real adult" now. Haha! But regardless I thought I'd share some pieces of advice and nuggets of wisdom that I've learned in my 21 years!

No. 1: Be polite. A please and thank you can go along way.
No. 2: People come into your life for a time and reason Friends come and go, even the best of them.
No. 3: Life changes, people change, priorities change and you change, and that's okay.
No. 4: Surround yourself with people who lift you up, not bring you down.
No. 5: If you want it work for it. Hard work does pay off.
No. 6: It's okay to not have everything figured out. I mean who does anyways?
No. 7: Dessert always.
No. 8: You can't please everyone, no matter how hard you try.
No. 9: It's okay to be sad sometimes. You don't always have to be happy.
No. 10: Buy it, whatever it is, because if you don't you'll regret it. Nothing haunts us more than the things we didn't buy.
No. 11: You're never too old to watch a Disney movie.
No. 12: If you have an opportunity take it. Whether it's a job promotion, chance to study abroad or to go sky-diving, take it.
No. 13: Don't spend too much time on social media. Disconnect from the world and be present in the moment.
No. 14: Don't take things too seriously. Relax and live a little.
No. 15: Mom always knows best.
No. 16: Growing up is a lot harder than I thought.
No. 17: It's okay to say no.
No. 18: Crying helps. It really does.
No. 19: Savor the little things, like your morning cup of coffee or fresh sheets.
No. 20: Even if you’ve had a crappy day try and find one positive thing.
No. 21: Never stop learning and growing. Experience is the best way to learn.

I hope you guys enjoyed this post and maybe even took something away from it. These are all things that I've realized or experienced in my whole 21 years of life. I'm excited for what this next year will bring and what new opportunities, people and things I'm going to get to do!

Thank you guys for sticking around and keep sticking around for many more birthdays! :)
