Have you ever woken up on the wrong side of the bed? Or just are not in a good mood and everything is setting you off? I have these days many, many times. The other day I was having one of these "days". I was stressed from school and life, I was snapping at everyone, I was just not in a good mood. I went to my room for a bit to relax and get myself together. I laid down in bed, put on some of my favorite music and closed my eyes. Ten minutes passed and I felt much better. I went and apologized to those I snapped at, aka my mom. We all have those days where everything is going wrong. Whenever those days happen take some time and regroup yourself. I've compiled a list of 9 things to do when you're having a bad day to make it a good day!
No. 1: Just go//
Get out of the house or space. Drive to pick up a little Starbucks or a special treat. Go on a nice drive around your area. Just go and find a change of scenery.
No. 2: Make some tea//
A nice hot cuppa tea will do wonders for you! My favorite for relaxing is a cup of green tea with honey or the vanilla honey chammoille from Celestial.
No. 3: Take a (quick) shower//
If I'm feeling grumpy I'll hop into the shower for a bit. The steady stream of hot water and steam and yummy smelling soaps will instantly brighten my mood. I'll come out refreshed and ready to go again.
No. 4: Do something you love//
Spend some time doing something you love whether that's ready a couple of chapters in a book, painting or cooking up something real quick. Take a break and do something you love to reset your mind.
No. 5: Light a candle//
Candles scream relaxation to me. Light your favorite candle or one of the aromatherapy ones to help calm yourself and refocus. You can combine this with drinking your tea for maximum tranquility.
No. 6: Take a walk//
Put on your sneakers and hit the outdoors (weather permitting). Take a quick walk around your neighborhood or if you live close to a park. Getting outside to the fresh air, sun, sky, clouds and outdoor sounds can immediately reset your mood and the walking aka exercise will make you happier.
No. 7: Watch a funny video//
Hit up the Internet or Youtube for some laughter. Laughing will lighten your mood and make you smile and genuinely happy! One that I can't stop smiling at is this one.
No. 8: Listen to some music//
Go to your room or a place where you're alone, lay down on your bed or sit in a comfy chair, put in your headphones, close your eyes and drown out the world and your troubles. You can do this while drinking tea too! Here's a couple playlists that help calm and soothe you: Totally Stress Free, Acoustic Morning, and Peaceful Indie Ambient.
No. 9: Do some yoga//
Clear some space and do some yoga, or stretching if you're not a yoga type. Stretching will help relax your muscles and the steady breathing will help create a calm. You can even meditate and focus on clearing your mind of the negativity and stress and focus on the positivity.
There you have it, my 9 ways to make a bad day a good one! The simplest things can really make a difference in changing your mood. Maybe that's taking a walk, getting a treat, or watching a video.
